Second phase of elections to be held on Jan 20, 21

articalPUNE: The second phase of elections for selecting young leaders from among college students, as a part of the Sakal Media Group’s initiative, Young Inspirator’s Network (YIN) will be held on January 20 and 21.

Over 6,000 candidates from various colleges in the city will contest for the leadership post. As many as 10 lakh students are expected to cast their votes in this round. In the first phase, that was held from December 15 to 30, there was an astounding response from the youngsters. Considering this huge turnout of students, the second phase of elections is being organised that will be mainly for those students and teachers from the colleges who failed to participate in the first round of elections. The ballots will be counted at the Sakal office on the next day after polling after which winners will be announced.

YIN has now grown and spread as a state-wide movement, showing the youths, the direction to make progress and grow. YIN has not only found leadership qualities in nearly all colleges in the State but also has been trying to find solutions to address the multiple problems faced by the student community.

The various activities that YIN undertakes for college students include organising regular meets with YIN leaders, training and guiding them in undertaking student-related activities, conducting educational tours, undertaking systematic research and publishing their reports, engaging in social activities, etc.

YIN also aims at decentralising its activities at district and regional levels for which special teams will be identified. After the polls, the youngsters are looking forward to accepting the roles as guardian ministers, members of the ministry, said YIN Community Network Chief Manager Tejas Gujarathi and State Chief Sandeep Kale.
